BarPrep ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect when you use the BarPrep iOS app and website (barprep.app), how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.
What Data We Collect
BarPrep is designed to be privacy-first. We do not require account creation or collect personal information such as your name or email address through the app.
The following data may be collected:
- Usage analytics: Anonymized data about how you interact with the app (e.g., which subjects you practice, session lengths) to help us improve the experience.
- Purchase history: Information about your subscription status, managed through RevenueCat and Apple. This includes whether you have an active premium subscription and any trial periods.
- Device identifiers: Apple-provided anonymous identifiers used to restore purchases and associate subscription status with your device.
What Data We Do NOT Collect
- No personal accounts — there is no sign-up or login in the app
- No email addresses collected through the app
- No name, address, or contact information
- No location data
- No camera or microphone access
Third-Party Services
BarPrep uses the following third-party services that may process data on our behalf:
- RevenueCat: Manages in-app subscriptions and purchase validation. RevenueCat receives anonymous purchase receipts from Apple to verify subscription status. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
- Apple App Store / StoreKit: Processes all payments. We never receive your full payment card details. See Apple's Privacy Policy.
How We Use Your Data
Data collected is used solely to operate and improve BarPrep — specifically to provide subscription-gated features, restore purchases, and understand aggregate usage patterns. We do not sell your data to third parties.
Data Retention and Deletion
Usage data is retained as long as needed to maintain the service. Since BarPrep does not store personal accounts on our servers, deleting the app from your device removes all locally stored practice progress.
If you have a subscription through the App Store, Apple and RevenueCat retain purchase records per their own retention policies. Contact Apple to manage or delete your purchase history.
Children's Privacy
BarPrep is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The app is designed for adults preparing for the Bar Exam.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
